Dussehra is a festival that's close to many people. Popularly called Vijaydashmi, it is celebrated on the 10th day of the Navaratri festival. There are many different ways and reasons to celebrate it according to which part of India you belong to, but the central theme is generally Good over Evil.
In the south it is the Goddess Durga that vanquishes the demon Mahishasura, while the people in the North celebrate the return of the Ayodha prince Lord Rama after his victorious conquest of Ravana of Sri Lanka.
This year Dussehra falls on the 9th of October and the places where it is celebrated with great festivity are Mysore and West Bengal. In most of North India Dusshera is celebrated with the burning of the effigy of the Demon Ravana. In Kolkatta and the rest of Bengal, huge areas are reserved to mark respect to the Goddess Durga in the much celebrated and renowned Durga Puja.
Some of the most popular spots to therefore book your stays are Mysore in the south, Bengal in the east and Kota in Rajasthan in the west. And if you have given the iXiGO fare outlook graph a look on how to book cheap tickets, you'll notice that there is a nice dip around the time Dusshera comes and the cost of the tickets are cheaper than usual if booked now! There are many ways to end up in Mysore through our bus search. And a route we recommend is to get to Bangalore from any city you are in and then take a bus to Mysore. We have hotels ranging from as cheap as Rs 470 onwards available in Mysore. So make sure you start your bookings early to celebrate the burning of Ravana and pay your respects to Goddess Durga in Bengal.
If that wasn't enough to entice you then here's a video of Ravana burning live followed by fireworks!
In this Dusherra Blog, why do you just mention buses, why not aeroplanes? How about a software engineer working in Hyderabad who would want to go to Delhi for a weekend Dusherra trip ecspecially since Dusherra is on Thursday so (s)he can take Friday off.
ReplyDeleteVideo does not really excite me. May be you could have put a smaller length video showing dusherras of different places that you mention to really seduce me to use your engine.
